At the Waveney House Hotel our aim is to ensure your wedding day is one to remember.
The Hotel is situated in the beautiful Waveney Valley and directly overlooks the River Waveney, with its spectacular views across Gillingham Marsh. The hotel offers the most elegant and tranquil surroundings.
In summer the terrace beside the river is an ideal setting for arrival drinks and your photographs, whilst in winter the large open fire in Reception offers a warm welcome to you and your guests.
I personally will take pleasure in organising every detail and guiding you through the process, to ensure a relaxed and happy day for you both. My team of friendly and efficient staff will meet your every need, and will prepare your wedding breakfast.

Civil Ceremonies
The Waveney House Hotel is licensed to conduct wedding ceremonies. Please discuss numbers with the wedding coordinator. We cannot however arrange the registrar for you as this must be done in person. Please contact the registrar to ensure they have a suitable date available
Wedding Breakfast
For your Wedding Breakfast there is a maximum capacity of 100 people
Please find our banquet menus enclosed. One dish for each course is chosen by the bride and groom. If any guests have particular dietary requirements these will be catered for. Aside from dietary requirements all of your guests must have the same dish as selected by the bride and groom. Final menu choices must be forwarded to us with at least 2 weeks notice before your wedding.
Children will be catered for at half the price of your menu choice or chicken breast strips, chips and peas at £5.95 per child (12 and under).
Wine from our extensive wine list can be served with any of the above options. Our suggestion would be to allow half a bottle of red or white wine per person.
Sparkling wine or champagne are recommended choices for the toast.
Evening Reception
For the evening reception a buffet can be arranged to suit your requirements. Please find our buffet menus also enclosed. This must be based on total numbers attending. We are happy to cater for your requirements and can price buffets accordingly (minimum spend £8.00 per head).Our facilities include a stage for your entertainment and a dancing area. Our maximum capacity is 200
Additional Services
There are many areas of your wedding where we can offer assistance from the Toastmaster and Photographer to the evening entertainment. These will be discussed with you and we will make the arrangements if required.
Honeymoon Suite
We are pleased to offer you our four poster suite (Room 6) at a special rate of £100.00 for your wedding night; this is inclusive of a Full English Breakfast and VAT.
Guest Accommodation
The rooms can provisionally be held for you, but should you wish to confirm the booking then a £50 per room per night, non refundable deposit will be required. This provisional booking will be held for two weeks.
Napkins
Coloured napkins for your guest’s tables make a wedding breakfast extra special. We are happy to arrange these to compliment your colour scheme.
Favours, Balloons & Flowers
We are happy to recommend companies who specialise in these table decorations.
Toast Master
We are pleased to offer to arrange the services of our toastmaster. He will advise and smooth your way through your reception and speeches. The cost of the toastmaster is £175.00 (subject to availability). If you choose not to pay for a toastmaster it is recommended that you nominate someone to fulfil the role.
Private Bar
The Waveney Suite has the luxury of a private bar area, this bar will remain open from your arrival until midnight. If you wish for a bar extension until 1am then a £250.00 charge will apply.

The Perfect Reception
At the reception, the usual line up waiting to greet your guests is as follows
The Bride’s Father, the Groom’s Mother, the Groom, the Bride, the Groom’s Father, The Bride’s Mother, the Chief Bridesmaid and the Best Man.
The line up ensures that both families have the opportunity to speak to all the guests.

Toasts and speeches
Toasts and speeches normally take place at the end of the Wedding breakfast together with the cutting of the cake.
The Bride and Groom cut the cake
The Bride’s Father toasts the Bride and Groom and gives his speech
The Bridegroom toasts the Bridesmaids and gives his speech
The Best Man responds to the Bridegroom’s speech on behalf of the Bridesmaids, gives his speech and reads out the cards.
